a poem i wrote in my head while i was driving on the highway

what would happen,

do you think,

if we swapped a spot inside my soul with

a note from out your voice?

would my soul relax a bit?

would it take on

the sound of a little glass cat or

the smell of smoke and sex?

for that matter,

what would happen to your voice

after we placed that piece of soul

to fill the hole left by the note we stole?

would your voice get taller?

more sad?

would your voice grow a beard?

i couldn’t say for certain,

but

i think that we should try.
