if you know me, you know i'm a sucker for dark, twangy american music. Black Prairie's new album, "Feast of the Hunter's Moon" is exactly that. it is exactly what one might call "southern gothic" music. the soundtrack to a Faulkner book. the band is made up of members of the Decemberists, who, in my mind, are kind of hit or miss. but thus far, i'm greatly enjoying this album. elements of western-style fiddle, appalachian banjo, zydeco accordion, and a general sense of menace make this some dark, twangy listening.
